Facebooktwitterlinkedin

Seaplane Charter to Island resorts transfer is the epitome of luxury travel, and staying at destination at a fabulous 5-star hotel that is set on its very own private island. The following ten elite resorts, all of them located on private tropical islands, rank among the most exclusive hotel properties worldwide, offering absolute discretion, unique experiences, and word-class service (with price tags that match their reputations).

INTERCONTINENTAL HAYMAN ISLAND

10. INTERCONTINENTAL HAYMAN ISLAND, GREAT BARRIER REEF, AUSTRALIA

Hayman Island is a private island resort in the heart of the Whitsundays, managed by the InterContinental Hotel Group. The nearest island to the Great Barrier Reef, Hayman Island is ideal for nature based activities and exceptional guest experiences. Featuring 160 guest rooms, suites, villas and penthouses across three main accommodation wings, the property presents guests the ultimate in barefoot luxury. Restaurants and bars offer an array of local and international cuisines, while the spa is a heaven for the body and soul. The resort’s on-island experiences range from nature-bound walking trails, immersive wildlife tours, fish feeding, cultural weaving classes and a curated collection of sports and fitness activities including yoga, tennis lessons, state-of-the-art golf simulator and more.

CALALA ISLAND, NICARAGUA

9. CALALA ISLAND, NICARAGUA

Tucked away in a little-known corner of the Caribbean (off the coast of Nicaragua), Calala Island is a hidden gem featuring just four suites on the entire island, accommodating a maximum of eight guests (suites can be rented individually or the entire Island booked exclusively). A dedicated team of 30 staff for a 4:1 staff to guest ratio caters for guests’ every desire. Dining is a moveable feast: on your terrace, in the restaurant, at the pool bar or on the beach. Expect Michelin-inspired tasting menus in the evening and casual classics at lunch. The island is a nesting site for the critically endangered Hawksbill turtles so expect to see them laying, hatching and meandering to the sea during the various seasons.

AMANPULO, PHILIPPINES

8. AMANPULO, PHILIPPINES

Accessible only by private plane charter, tropical Pamalican Island is around an hour from Manila, yet feels a world away from anywhere. Managed by the famous Aman group – one of the most luxurious hotel brands in the world – since December 1993, Amanpulo is the only property on this Philippine island. Its 40 airy casitas and villas open to 5.5 km (3,5 miles) of coral sand that encircle a jungled center. With a convivial poolside clubhouse, an Aman spa, dive center and a laidback beach club, guests can be as active as they choose; a snorkel on your private beachfront might be all the exertion required to complete a day of restorative lounging. Other diversions include tennis courts, island hikes, turtle spotting and exploring the kaleidoscopic reefs just offshore.

TURKS & CAICOS, guest rooms

7. COMO PARROT CAY, TURKS & CAICOS

COMO Parrot Cay, a favorite among celebrities, is the northern Caribbean’s preeminent destination private island, wrapped in sweeps of sand and peaceful seas in the Turks and Caicos. It combines 1,000 unspoiled acres and a 1.5 km (1 mi) long, powder-sand beach with relaxed luxury. The region’s best spa, the award-winning COMO Shambhala Retreat, provides holistic, Asian-inspired therapies. Guests can choose from 72 unique guest rooms, suites, villas, and beach side houses, all decorated with understated elegance. For absolute privacy, reserve a residence tucked away from the main resort. The island’s two restaurants serve gourmet dishes, including organic, healthful COMO Shambhala cuisine.

&BEYOND MNEMBA ISLAND, TANZANIA

6. &BEYOND MNEMBA ISLAND, TANZANIA

If you’ve ever fantasized about being the sole inhabitant of a breathtaking tropical destination, without the hassle of lifting a finger to take care of yourself, then look no further than &Beyond Mnemba Island. This romantic and secluded retreat, located just off the northeastern coast of Zanzibar, invites a maximum of 24 guests at a time to relax and rejuvenate in an idyllic setting.

THE BRANDO, FRENCH POLYNESIA

5. THE BRANDO, FRENCH POLYNESIA

The Brando is a unique luxury resort on French Polynesia’s breathtakingly beautiful private island of Tetiaroa – an atoll composed of a dozen small islands surrounding a sparkling lagoon 30 miles (50 km) northeast of Tahiti. The Brando offers carefree luxury in the midst of pristine nature and is only accessible by a 20-minute private plane flight from Tahiti. The resort’s 35 villas sit on white-sand beaches frequented by sea turtles, manta rays and exotic birds. This Polynesian style resort also offers two restaurants showcasing Polynesian-inspired dishes, East/West fusion and classic French cuisine, as well as a luxurious spa and wellness center. It was in this natural wonderland that the legendary actor Marlon Brando settled down, and finally found his home.

COMO LAUCALA ISLAND, FIJI

4. COMO LAUCALA ISLAND, FIJI

Set upon 3,500 exclusive acres COMO Laucala Island Resort is set amidst coconut plantations, sandy beaches, rich green mountains and breathtaking natural beauty. True luxury is appreciated in the privacy of the resort’s 25 Fijian-styled villas widely spread on the northern tip of the island. Seamless transition from indoor to outdoor living creates an inspiringly relaxed yet luxurious atmosphere. Featuring an iridescent kaleidoscope of activities – scuba diving, sailing, fishing, tennis, cycling, golf, yoga, culture nights, tours, and water sports – the resort’s integral philosophy incorporates the island’s resources into guest experiences, with products and ingredients raised and grown on the island for use in the spa and across the five gourmet restaurants and bars.

TIME + TIDE MIAVANA, MADAGASCAR

3. TIME + TIDE MIAVANA, MADAGASCAR

Located on an idyllic island off the coast of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean, Time + Tide Miavana is very possibly the most remote luxury castaway  in the world. Fringed by an exceptionally beautiful white sand beach and a sprawling coral reef, the resort represents an insanely beautiful haven where guests can enjoy unique bespoke experiences in ultimate privacy. Dotted along the pristine beach, the resort’s 14 massive pool villas are a masterpiece in luxury and design. Guests step directly onto the powder-soft sand from their private decks to enjoy spectacular panoramic Indian Ocean sunsets extending to the far contours of mainland Madagascar. Private Charter are provided to the mainland, where the resort’s guides can lead you to a world of lemurs and chameleons, and a mosaic of unexplored coves.

SONEVA FUSHI, MALDIVES

2. SONEVA FUSHI, MALDIVES

Arrive by seaplane charter to Soneva Fushi, the first ‘Robinson Crusoe’ style hideaway in the Maldives, is set on the privately owned tropical island of Kunfunadhoo in Baa Atoll, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. The island – which is 1,400 m (4,600 ft) long and 400 m (1300 ft) wide – ranks among the largest islands in the Maldives. Apart from the crystal clear waters, white beaches and tropical climate, the island’s unusually rich vegetation offers a unique natural experience. Massive, multi-bedroom, fairytale-like luxury villas and private residences are hidden among dense tropical foliage. In keeping with the castaway theme, many are built to resemble tree houses. All open to their own private stretch of sugar white sands, and most boast their own private seawater swimming pools. In summer 2020, Soneva Fushi also unveiled eight fabulous water retreats, which are the largest and most luxurious overwater villas in the world.

NORTH ISLAND, SEYCHELLES

1. NORTH ISLAND, SEYCHELLES

North Island is the world’s most exclusive private island resort and one the best hotels I’ve ever been to. The insanely beautiful island has only 11 opulent hand-crafted villas overlooking the pristine, powder-white sands and turquoise waters of the Ile Du Nord eco-reserve. Raised off the ground to catch the cooling Indian Ocean breezes, all villas open up onto your private garden and the beach. Plunge pools and outdoor showers provide the finishing touches to your private sanctuary. The island’s lounge and dining areas, scenically located health spa and gym, library and dive center, and a rim-flow swimming pool are all built into a granitic outcrop. The resort was the decor for the honeymoon of Prince William and the Princess of Wales in 2011.

You can fly above the clouds, over the mountains, and white sandy beaches in a seaplane. Seaplane tours offer guests a flying experience unlike any other. During your seaplane tour, you’ll see things that you never thought possible and enjoy every moment of it. In this article, we go through the top 5 Seaplane Scenic Flight in the world!

There are many ways to see the world, and while some people are content to take a cruise ship, train, or go on vacation, there are others who prefer a different kind of trip. Seaplane Scenic flights have become increasingly popular in the last few years and have opened up new worlds for adventurous travelers.

What are the world’s most amazing seaplane tours?

The world is a beautiful place that should be explored from all its angles, and scenic seaplane flights are there to do just that.

Here are the world’s most amazing seaplane tours:

  • Maldives, South Asia
  • Vancouver, Canada
  • Bergen, Norway
  • Bora Bora, Tahiti
  • Alaska, USA

Maldives, South Asia

The Maldives’ 26 circular coral atolls are home to over 1,000 islands, many of which are uninhabited. It’s no wonder then that the Maldives is home to the largest seaplane fleet in the world. Take a chartered flight over the azure waters and white beaches below to marvel at the site the atolls have to offer. You can even land on an uninhabited island and feel the unequal calm that reigns.

The Maldives are home to some of the most gorgeous corals anywhere in the world, with thousands of underwater species. Flying hundreds of feet above these unique coral structures, you’ll appreciate the wonders of nature like never before. With almost year-round sunshine conditions, anywhere you’ll turn your head you’ll find a postcard-worthy picture.

Vancouver, British Columbia

Vancouver Island’s city of Victoria is known for its natural beauty. Still, it’s only one of the many iconic locations you can visit when you hop on a seaplane in Vancouver and explore the Pacific waters. The Vancouver panorama tour is one of the most popular tours offered by seaplanes in Vancouver.

This tour takes you over beautiful Stanley Park and Downtown toward Mount Baker and the Gulf Islands. Just north of Stanley Park, there is the Phantom Lake, whose splendor can only be appreciated fully from a bird’s eye view. Although the name might sound scary, all that you will see is a sublime vista of Canada’s uncharted wilderness.

Seaplane panoramic flights

Bergen, Norway

A seaplane journey through Norway’s majestic fjords will take anyone’s breath away. Exploring the sprawling archipelagos and seemingly never-ending waterways that make up the country’s northwest coastline, you will be flying over the waterways where Viking Drakkar used to roam free.

While Norway’s Fjord Coast is undoubtedly one of the world’s best destinations for an unforgettable adventure, seeing the pristine mountain ranges and sparkling waters from a seaplane is hard to beat. Cities are another highlight; these tours offer views of Bergen, Oslo, and Stavanger as they fly by.

Fortunately, tourists don’t have to imagine what it must be like to be so close to such natural magnificence: they can experience it first-hand with a Norwegian Fjord sightseeing Seaplane Scenic Flights. The flight gives travelers an aerial view of everything from the narrowest fjords to the open ocean.

Bora Bora, Tahiti

One of the world’s most amazing Seaplane Scenic flights is Bora Bora because of how close you get to the water. You can watch the spray of the water as it comes up on the seaplane’s wing, or even feel it splashing against your face if you’re sitting in the front seat.

Bora Bora is a French Polynesian island in the South Pacific, and it’s one of the most desirable vacation spots globally and one of the least visited by tourists. The main town, Vaitape, is small and laid-back. You’ll find yourself walking down quiet, clean streets lined with thatched huts and brightly colored buildings.

The locals are friendly, too. They are known to greet tourists with a “bula,” which means “hello” in their native language. Bora Bora offers two different ways for people to explore its land: by boat or by plane. If you’re looking for an aquatic adventure, you can hop on a catamaran cruise and discover waterfalls and secret beaches around the island.

Bora-bora Scenic Flight

Alaska, USA

A Seaplane Scenic flight is a must in Alaska, which boasts the most significant number of seaplane flights globally. You can go on a tour with a pilot or a guide; both offer great views and unique experiences that you won’t get by driving around. Scenic Seaplane Tours are the world’s most fantastic way to explore a region! Rather than spending hours on a boat, or on land, you can see an incredible amount of the place you’re visiting in just a few minutes by air.

These tours are popular in Alaska because they offer amazing views of glaciers and untouched nature. Given that Alaska has many seaplane companies due to its various remote regions, you can probably find a scenic flight package near your vacation location or a nearby airport. Because there’s less time for sightseeing tours when flying, choose wisely what you want to see. Your tour guide may help you decide which landmarks are the most exciting and worth seeing.

How much does it cost to charter a private plane?

You may expect to pay $1,300 and $3,000 per flying hour to charter a private plane, which seats 4 to 6 passengers, and between $4,000 and $8,000 per flying hour to charter a midsize jet, which seats up to 9 passengers.

More and more individuals are traveling by private jet charter than ever before, thanks to the numerous advantages of doing so. With the world still reeling from the global pandemic, flying privately allows you to travel again while maintaining a healthy social distance and avoiding crowded airports.

The cost of private jet travel has lately dropped to the point that it is now competitive with first- and business-class seats on commercial flights. Although flying private may appear to be a luxury, spending several uncomfortable hours on a commercial airplane when you have business to attend to at your destination or have spent your hard-earned money on the vacation of your dreams is no laughing matter. Additionally, a private charter is an excellent choice for last-minute travels.

How do seaplane floats work?

Can you fly a seaplane anywhere?

With the permission of the local Authority, seaplanes may fly and land on any open navigable river or body of water. Some publicly owned waters are accessible to the public, while others are closed or restricted.

The best approach to ensure that you are allowed to land at a potential seaplane landing place is to phone ahead and confirm the status of the water with whoever manages or owns the body of water.

How far can a seaplane travel?

The hardworking Twin Otter can be found in jungles, deserts, mountains, the Arctic, and anywhere else where tough reliability and short take-off and landing are essential. This seaplane has a range of 1434 kilometers and a top speed of 160 knots. It is a very enjoyable and flexible mode of transportation!

The Twin Otter’s adaptability is further enhanced by the fact that it may be equipped with wheels, skis, or floats. The Twin Otter is a high-winged, unpressurized twin-engine turbine aircraft that can operate in all types of weather and situations.

A Journey of a Lifetime: From a Pilot’s Dream to Creating Palawan’s First, Seaplane Charter Company

A Passion Takes Flight: My Journey to Becoming a Pilot

Since the dawn of time, humans have dreamed of flying. Growing up in Quebec, Canada, I remember hearing the slightest noise from a plane in the distance, and my head automatically turned to the sky. I watched it intensely, imagining other places and horizons. Born in Switzerland and raised in Quebec, Canada, my dream of flying began on a plane from Zurich to Montreal. Visiting the cockpit sealed my future. Although I was very young, I knew that this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life: to fly like a bird, to explore other countries, and to see other horizons. I was determined to make my dream a reality.

Working My Way Up: From Odd Jobs to the Cockpit

I worked hard, taking all kinds of jobs that would bring me close to a plane or airport. I flew seaplanes in Canada; Quebec and British Columbia before flying to more exotic skies.

Soaring Above Limits: A Pilot’s Pursuit of Dreams and Adventures

My first real overseas travel was to Vietnam, with my pilot license in my pocket but little experience. Although I had no work, I embarked on a wonderful adventure that opened my eyes to Asia’s food, culture, music, and people. This experience sparked my wanderlust, not knowing that fate would bring me back to Asia flying seaplanes.

Learning to See the World Through Different Eyes

For a year, I flew amphibian seaplanes in Madagascar and transported tourists during the day while discovering the nightlife, music, and joie de vivre of the locals at night. Bali, Indonesia was my next stop, where life came to a halt after a terrorist attack in Kuta Night district. This experience showed me the darker side of humanity and made me realize that regardless of our cultural origin, we all feel the same emotions, pain, and suffering.

Discovering the Beauty Amidst the Turmoil

One of the most memorable moments of my life was the two years I spent in Kabul, Afghanistan, as a pilot for a humanitarian organization during the war. This experience was intense and emotional. The bonds I formed with my colleagues under those conditions are still strong, and some of them have become lifelong friends. Although some of my colleagues lost their lives during that period, they will never be forgotten. Living and working in Afghanistan was a rare privilege, and I discovered proud and generous people despite all the suffering and difficulties they have faced and continue to face.

Returning to the Philippines: Fulfilling a Lifelong Dream

All of these experiences have brought me back to Asia, specifically to the Philippines my new home, where I have been sharing my time and expertise for several years, between here the Philippines and Papua New Guinea where I worked as an airline pilot for the local national airline.

From Dream to Reality: Establishing Palawan’s First Seaplane Airline

With thousands of islands, beaches, crystal-clear waters, and an abundance of fauna and flora, the Philippines has so much to offer. My dream of sharing this wonderful country from the air with adventurous souls led me to create Horizon Sun Charters. With the savings of a lifetime, I bought a seaplane in Quebec and brought it back to Palawan to establish the region’s first seaplane airline.
