A seaplane flight in Palawan is one of the most spectacular ways to see the Philippines, with islands, lagoons and beaches spread out beneath you. Here is what to expect, from the moment you board to the moment you step onto the sand.
1.Where flights depart
Most flights start from our seaplane base in Puerto Princesa, and we also fly from and to Palawan's main destinations: El Nido, Coron and Busuanga, Taytay, Port Barton and San Vicente, Linapacan and Balabac.
Before the flight, we confirm your group's weight and luggage, and your pilot gives a short safety briefing. Then you step from the dock or beach onto the float and into the cabin.
2.The view from above
Once airborne, Palawan opens up below you: forest-covered mountains, limestone cliffs, coral reefs and water in every shade of blue. Every seat has a window, and flying low means you see the details, not just the big picture.
3.Famous sights on the way
Depending on your route, you may fly over some of Palawan's most famous places: the cliffs and islands of Bacuit Bay in El Nido with Matinloc Island and Hidden Beach, or the limestone islands around Coron, home of the Twin Lagoon. Places that take a full day of island hopping by boat pass beneath you in minutes.
4.Touching down on the water
The landing is the highlight for many guests. The pilot lines up with the water, the floats kiss the surface, and the aircraft slows to a gentle glide. Then it taxis like a boat toward a dock or beach.
5.Stepping onto the beach
You step off onto a floating dock, or straight into shallow, warm water and onto the sand. Wear shoes or sandals you do not mind getting wet. Your Palawan adventure begins right there.
